肯尼·罗杰斯，1938年8月21日出生于得克萨斯州的休斯敦，他家境贫穷，但还是坚持念完了高中，并学会了演奏吉他和小提琴。上高中的时候，就在一支叫做“学者” (The Scholars)的山地乡村摇滚乐队里演奏。高中毕业后，他录制了两首单曲：《我们永远再次堕入情网》(We’ll Always Fall in Love Again)和《对于你的孤独》(For You Alone)。在60年代初期，肯尼·罗杰斯在当地一些乐队中演唱，1996年，罗杰斯自己组建了一支名叫“首版”(First Edition)的乐队，乐队的歌曲《鲁比不要把你的爱情带进镇里》(Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town)第1首单曲是《爱让我振奋》(Love Lifted Me)，在1976年初成为一首小热门歌曲。
